Hi Krisjmac,

Unfortunately, the Western European multilingual Partner EW800 does not include the Text Translation system and it is not indicated anywhere in the product description that it does.

You may review the product description online at
http://www.ectaco.com/products/ECTACO-Partner-EW800

Krisjmac wrote:I just purchased a Partner PW800 and was hoping to use the Ectaco Text Translation software, but the icon doesn't appear on the desktop. Does the PW800 have this text translator capability? I purchased this device for a native Spanish speaker and we would like to be able to translate text from Spanish to English. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Krisjmac,

Thank you for your inquiry.

In order to access the Text Translation system on the English <-> Spanish ECTACO Partner ES800, you will need to select Dictionaries section from the Main Menu and to tap the Ectaco Text Translation icon.

Hope this helps,

When I try to remove the check from Hide Slang, it asks for a password. (This is not the same as my forum password, I tried that.) What is the password for this? - never mind, I found it. For others, the password is showslan.

Hi Karen,

That is absolutely correct, the password which allows removing the check from Hide Slang check box is showslan.

Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry.

This code that you received is required to complete your registration in case if you prefer to do this manually.

It does not have anything to do with the registration key for the software which you receive after you place an order on our website.

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for the question.

The software included on CD is our bonus and demo software for some other languages that are not included on the Partner ES900.

Unfortunately, we do not offer any software for Apple Mac free, but you are welcome to order any of the available applications through the iTunes store using the link that I provided.

Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I'd recommend our new English <-> German ECTACO Partner EGm900 Talking Electronic Dictionary and Audio PhraseBook which you may find online at
http://www.ectaco.com/products/ectaco-partner-egm900

The Partner EGm900 actually allows typing in any text in English in order to have it translated into German and vice versa.
Once translated, the text can then be spoken aloud in German or in English using the latest text-to-speech voice synthesis.

The device has a bilingual user's interface so you and your Swiss friend can use it easily.

The EGm900 model also features our interactive Language Teacher system which lets you learn German quickly and effectively.

Language Teacher will pronounce words, phrases and dialogs for you. It will show you German word written in German, show you translation in English, show you visual image of this word, pronounce it for you in German, evaluate your pronunciation and offer you a test to make sure you do it correctly.
The Language Teacher system works in a similar way for German speakers learning English.

This unique system gradually builds up your vocabulary and pronunciation through lessons and quizzes you can take at your own pace. It even shows the percentage of how many lessons you have completed and how well you're doing.

As an additional benefit, the Partner EGm900 comes equipped with our customizable translating jetBook e-book reader with multiple file format support.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Auguri,

Thank you for your inquiry.

You can download any materials from Public Libraries using the jetBook as long as they are in one of the supported formats.

You may review the list of supported formats for each of these e-readers online at www.jetbook.net.

We've got 3 versions of the jetBook e-reader - the regular, the Lite one and the jetBook mini.
All of these e-readers have a 5” TFT LCD screen.

The jetBook Lite takes regular 4xAA batteries and the jetBook mini runs on 4 AAA batteries which last up to 90 hours of continuous reading.
The regular jetBook comes with the rechargeable battery inside the unit and includes the MP3 player as an additional benefit.

We are working on additional ebook format support and you will be able to download the updated firmware version absolutely free as soon as we release it.

You may find all available e-readers online at
http://www.ectaco.com/eBook-PDA-Dictionaries-items/

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,

Thanks for the question.

That is correct, the speech recognition is limited to the number of phrases included in the phrasebook.

Unfortunately, there is no device on the market that can recognize and translate anything that you speak into it.

Hi,

It looks like you don't have the admin rights to install the software.
Please contact Microsoft support team to get the assistance.

Here is an extract of the Vista and Windows 7 forum:

>>
No doubt this is one of the most common questions/frustrations about Windows Vista (also valid for Windows 7). Even if you log on as an administrator, you don't really have administrative rights, thanks to UAC (User Account Control). UAC runs almost everything using non-administrator rights to help protect you from bad software that would abuse those administrator rights to change your settings or install viruses.

When you run a setup program, UAC should automatically prompt you to run it as an administrator using the UAC prompt (which Microsoft calls the "consent" prompt). If you don't see this, right-click the program, and then click Run As Administrator. Then, it will really run as an administrator. It should have prompted you, but for some reason, Vista didn't realize it needed Administrator rights. It woudln't hurt to check the software developer's website for a version of the program made for Vista; that would
also fix the problem.
