I am a new owner of a jetBook with the latest firmware pre-installed. My dictionary only works with the preloaded books. Any and all books I have loaded on to the jetBook fail to show a dictionary in the menu. These include epub, mobi, rtf, and prc files.

In my user settings I show:
Languages
Auto Power Off
Auto Turn Page
Volume
Fonts

The manual (outdated now?) says I should have Dictionaries between Volume and Fonts.

When reading a preloaded book, I can still access and change the dictionaries by pressing the menu button and then selecting settings (or simply pressing #1 on the keypad). But when reading any other than a txt or fb2 file, the dictionary option does not appear.

EDIT: I have reinstalled the v0.30e firmware, and I still have no dictionary support for anything but txt and fb2 files.

Thank you

Thanks but as stated above I already reinstalled the v30e firmware without issue, following your directions posted elsewhere on the forum. I don't quite understand why you are recommending I reinstall the v30e firmware when you have confirmed that dictionary support for the formats in question is not yet available.

This misunderstanding of mine was caused by your claim of English-English dictionary support elsewhere on this site.

http://www.ectaco.com/comparison-JetBook/

I realize you have recently added additional formats but I assumed incorrectly that they all would have dictionary support.

I will gladly wait for a new update providing dictionary support to the new file formats, but can you give me an idea of when this will be available?

Thank you.

Dear Customer

Next update will be ready in the end of May.
The dictionaries will be able to work with these formats there.

I just got my ectaco jet book, and the dictionaries don't work with PDFs!

ALSO, how do you ADD dictionaries? Is there a software development kit?

Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use dictionaries in PDF-files.
I am afraid it is not possible to add more dictionaries in Jetbook now.
For now we have German-English, Spanish-English, Russian-English, Polish-English. We are working on to put more dictionaries in Jetboo,.
Updates will be available soon. You may check it on www.jetbook.net/upgrade
